What’s new about this years’ Vilnius Gastro Zero?

A breeze of fresh air is flowing in Vilnius’ gastronomy world; chefs from the restaurants of Lithuania’s capital are preparing for a challenge. You are invited to see the results at this year’s Vilnius Gastro Zero. 12 restaurants and bars accepted the challenge, and will prepare their special dishes and drinks with a very important message – reducing food waste.

As the name of the event implies, we not only want to invite people to have a good time and quality food experience (such aspects are guaranteed!), but we also want to make a big step towards areas around the community and sustainability. Apart from the usual “no paper tickets” policy, and encouragement of participants to use environmentally friendly means of transport, we are heavily supporting the use of organic and local products. There will also be – needless to say – no plastic straws.

Therefore, all of the restaurants and bars participating in this year’s event have taken up the challenge to create plant-based dishes and drinks using ingredients that have lost their perfect appearance; the foodstuffs could be labelled as “tired,” “ugly,” or are bruised or impaired in any way, but are otherwise safe and of good quality. These are the foods that would usually be buried in landfill.

The chefs promise to be extremely creative and invite you all to a luxurious gastronomic experience. Through smell, taste and aesthetics, they will inspire us all to apply this kind of attitude towards our cooking at home, and all other aspects of food.

Even with the zero food waste approach and such creativity and inspiration, this year’s event will be special, since it will take place over two days and offer 3 different food routes – Blue, Green and Yellow. A ticket holder who has registered with a smartphone will be able to visit up to 6 restaurants and bars, depending on the route they have chosen.

On the Blue route, you can visit Korean Taste, Le Travi, Nomads, Šventaragio sodas and Uncle Sam’s. On the Green route, visit Georgian House, Rieke Bistro, Stebuklai, Trinity Bar and White Rice GAO, whilst Yellow route followers enjoy the additional Mano Guru on the latter.

This Vilnius Gastro event is being organised for the fourth year in a row, and we assure you that it will provide many amazing tastes, impressions and overall experiences. There are limited tickets, so to make sure you do not miss the opportunity to indulge yourself in this exceptional gastro adventure, make sure to get your tickets now!
